Dr. Zhong Lin Shanghai

Work experience

Dr. Lin has over 20 years’ experience in the areas of international commercial law, with a focus on private equity, venture capital, foreign direct investment, cross-border merger and acquisition, and antitrust. Dr. Lin’s experience covers various industrial sectors including, inter alia, life science, healthcare, automotive and TMT. His in-depth knowledge of these sectors enables him to provide unique solutions to questions raised. His profound knowledge and practical experience in international investment law has won him high reputation among the legal society as well as multinational companies.


 

Education

He received an LL.B. from Peking University in 1990, and an LL.M and PhD from Xiamen University in 1993 and 1996 respectively. Dr. Lin was admitted to the Chinese bar in 1992. Prior to joining Chen & Co.in 2006, Dr. Lin was a partner in two other prominent Chinese law firms, a manager of the international headquarters of a Big 4 firm’s legal practice in Paris, and a lecturer of law at Xiamen University.


 

Membership

Dr. Lin is especially active in the antitrust law field. He is the vice director of the Antimonopoly Law Committee of the All China Lawyers Association and the vice chairman of the Competition Law Research Institution of Shanghai Law Society. He also served as the director of the International Investment & Antimonopoly Research Committee of Shanghai Lawyers Association.

With profound academic background, Dr. Lin is the author of numerous works on international economic law and dispute resolution. In 2009, he was invited to serve as a guest research fellow at Xiamen University’s International Economic Law Institute, and in 2010 he was appointed to serve as a guest professor at Xiamen University Law School.


 

Honors & awards

Dr. Lin was awarded “Asia Law Leading Lawyer” in 2015 by China Law & Practice.

Dr. Lin was awarded one of the top 100 lawyers in 2016 by the China Business Law journal.
